Sales

Hello fellow shoppers,

Target has under ware on clearance for between $1-$2. I got one of each. Some of their shoes are marked down 75%. JCP has a lot of shirts from this winter on clearance. I saw a couple for like $5.00. Old Navy has shirts from last summer on clearance. I find Old Navy is slower at lowering their clearance prices then Target is. I wonder why they drag their feet like that. Life uniform has a good sale going on they have a ton of scrub tops on sale for $10.00. Did you know that a lot of stores that have a location at an outlet take the clothes not sold after being on clearance? Boscovs is going to have another one of their cracker jack sales soon. You get a box of cracker jacks and in it is a coupon for between 15%-100% off your order. Not bad. Boscovs usually keeps good coupons upstairs by the gift wrapping center. Oh they also do free gift wrapping on items less then like $15.00. Kohl's has clothes marked down 80%. I picked up a few sweaters for next winter.

family portraits

Hello fellow shoppers,

Before getting your family portraits done you should done some research. You should talk to family and friends about where they got their pictures done, and if they were happy with both the service and prices. Some places charge a sitting fee for each person in addition to the pictures. JcPenny's has very cute back drops however it takes them forever to get your pictures ready. Some places have clubs you can join to save money, but they cost money to join. Many places such as The Picture People, Jcp and target all offer coupons. They also have package deals which you can't use a coupon in combination with. It can sometimes be slightly confusing when you are trying to figure out which package has the best deal for your family. I recently had family pictures done and I liked two of the frames and the lady told me it was best to get a package with them because I would end up getting like 15 sheets for free. So we were going with that and as i was trying to order the pictures and read the paper she was holding it turned out she was wrong. She was selling me one frame I wanted and one much larger. It ended up being cheaper to not do a package and use a coupon instead. Another piece of advice DON'T buy their frames WalMart and Target have the same frames less then half the price. Just buy the sheets and get the frames on your own. If you wanted you could pick out the frames you wanted first then you would know what picture sizes you would need. I went to The Picture People not only did I have to wait one hour past my scheduled appointment, and yes with two kids, they also only had two back drops black or white. I think I would rather check out some other places before I go back there.

the wedding dress

Hello Fellow shoppers,

My Aunt is getting married in August and picked me to be her Maid of Honor. On Thursday her and I and the rest of the Bridesmaids went to Davids bridal to look for her wedding dress. A little background on Davids, I went there to get my dress over 4 years ago and they gave me the wrong dress to take home. They also have crazy alteration prices. However you can sometimes get a really good deal there so I made an appointment and we went. We got there on time but of course they weren't ready for us so I started to pull a few dress we wanted to try on. 30 mins later someone finally came over and we helped the bride try her dresses on. The first one she liked but wanted to try some others. The second was way to plain. The third was perfect. It was an off white with lace and crystals. Regular price $650.00 on sale for $350.00 perfect. There was a small piece of string hanging in the beading, so I asked David's to cut that off and told them we would be back after we ate dinner. We ate at Perkins while the dress was getting fixed. The waitress was terrible she spilt soup on the bride to be. She said " well it wasn't that hot and its good luck." She continued to make mistakes for the next hour. When the lady at the register asked how every thing was I filled her in and she took $15.00 off the bill. We went back to David's to pick up the dress. When we got there they still hadn't fixed the dress. After they said they fixed it I took a look at it and it was worse. The lady's responce was we will fix it when u bring it in for alterations. When I told her we weren't bring it back she gave me a big attitude. She finally fixed the dress. When the cashier ran the dress up the total was. $99.00 yes a $650.00 dress for $99.00. That isn't a deal its a steal. So my tip to u when u are ready to buy a wedding dress. First take some anti anxiety medicine then go to David's bridal. Hopefully u to will be rewarded with an amazing deal.

shopping for a vacation

Hello fellow shoppers,

Who can not use a vacation? There are some studies that show people who vacation at least twice a year do better at work. I'm going to give you some tips that can save you money when shopping for a vacation. First where do you wanna go? If u are looking to leave the country and travel somewhere warm a cruise would be a great deal. Almost everything is included on a cruise. If u live near a port u can save even more money because u don't need to pay for airfare to a port. When u are looking for a vacation try to do it yourself, travel agents increase the prices. There are a ton of travel sites online to look through for a vacation. As u are browsing the sites look for the tab that says last minute deals or travel deals. This is where some of the best deals are. When booking airfare try to be flexible with your dates to save money. Its usually cheaper to fly on a Tuesday then Saturday. When looking for air fare also keep in mind that if u book your ticket many months in advance u will save money. The closer u get to the date of travel the higher the price of the tickets. All thou if u are a member of an airlines money saving club u can save money by not buying your tickets until its closer to the date of travel. The airlines often put tickets a side for members of these groups and I have heard of people flying to Orlando from A.C. for $130.00 round trip for two people. It would be a good idea to join one or a few of these clubs if u like to travel. Last minute deals are great if u can drop everything and go. When looking for a vacation browse as many sites as u can to compare prices and deals offered with the vacation. I just booked a cruise to Alaska in May and decided to go with the site that offered 10% off my excursions in Alaska. I saved $100.00 on the excursions. Before u book your airfare with your cruise or hotel compare the price they offer u to the price it would be if u booked it alone. Sometimes its cheaper to book them together sometimes your better off doing it separate. I hope this help u save some money while shopping for a vacation.

buying bulk

Hello fellow shoppers,

Have you ever wondered if it is actually cheaper to shop in bulk at stores like BJS? I think it depends on what you are buying and the size of your family. If you have a family of 5 or more and the kids are over 8 or so I think its worth shopping there for you. If you are having a big party you can save a bit. I found they have pretty good prices on diapers. The prices there don't work out to be so great if you have a smaller family. With the exception of drinks, paper products, and some snacks. I found their meats to be of poor quality. If you really like to shop in these types of stores you can join with a friend. The two of you can split the membership fee. It usually runs around $40.00. After you are done shopping you can split everything. This way no one has to store a large amount of extra food and you both saved some money. Sometimes I get coupons for a free trial at BJS. I try to save these for when the kids birthdays are coming up and use it for that. So if you have a big family try shopping at bulk stores. If you don't it might be better if you just stock up at Shop Rite when they have good sales.

how to save money while shopping

Hello fellow shoppers,

I have a good tip for you on saving money while shopping. DON'T bring your kids or spouse. The shopping trip may start out fine, the kids just asking for a few things and the spouse adding just a few extras. Well by the time my three grab just a few things that weren't on the list my total easily runs an extra $30-$40. Now multiply that by a month, and that's at least $120-160 dollars. That could be your cell phone payment. Its easy to go over budget when you don't want to tell your kids no. That's why you don't bring them with you. You can still go food shopping a buy what they need and whats on the list. If you don't have a babysitter try to avoid the isles that you don't need to go down.

brand name vs. store brand.

Hello fellow shoppers,

Have you ever found yourself standing in an isle at a local store staring at two bottles? One bottle is usually more colorful than the other which is usually white or lacking design. The nicer looking bottle is going to cost at least $1.00 more. The price difference depends on the price of the nicer looking item. For example some name band creams for burns can be $10, but the store band is $5.00. So many people thing the name brand must work better because it cost more. WRONG. The cheaper one has the same ingredients in it as the nicer one. Don't believe me read the label. When you buy the nicer looking one that is where your money is going into the design of the labels, and to cover the cost for the famous person that is paid to talk about the product. When it comes to foods, medicines, garbage bags, diapers etc its worth getting the store brand. The only diaper that didn't give my daughter a rash was target brand. They worked great I wish i discovered them back when my son was first born. The only products I don't buy store brand are laundry detergent, dish soap and toothpaste. I find the soaps are watered down. We it comes to shampoos and face washes its a hit or miss. I think it depends on your hair and skin type. sometimes its worth getting the name brand other times the store brand works just as well. When in doubt if it will work the same compare the labels.

coupon book

Hello fellow shoppers,

Everyone is famillier with coupons. How many of you know about coupon books? They have been around for several years but still remain on the down low. The two that come to my mind are the Entirtainment book and Kids Stuff. They both are great books, I however perfer the Entertament book. The Kids Stuff offers more then just kids stuff. Its has coupons for everything from food to clothes. The Entertainment Book has a larger selection, and the book is broken down into an easy to find anything format. The entertaintmentbook also has everything in it. Most fast food resturants offer multipule buy one get one coupons. There are coupons for museums, movies, clothes, car repair, pictures, gifts, black beards. I keep my book in my car and before I go into a store I look through it real quick to see if there is a coupon. Many times I have guessed there wouldn't be one and sure enough there was. You can even find some for online, usually free or discounted shipping and handeling. Both books can be purshesed for fundrasiers or you could go to a charity you are intersted in and purchese the book through them. Than apart of the sale goes to that charity. Thats like a double great deal you save money and help someone out. The books run for about $25 dollars. It more than pays for itself. Shop Rite has twenty or twenty-five dollars in savings alone. I highly recomend a coupon book for almsost everyone. draft

consignment shops

Hello fellow shoppers,

A good way to save money is shopping at consignment shops. They are also a good way to make some money. Consignment shops are perticulary good for you if you have small childern, usually under 4. To find really good deals at consigment shops you need to know your local shops. There are some good ones, others just have junk but once in awhile you get lucky. After you find the good ones you need to learned about their sales. Usually they are a season ahead, just like regular stores. At the end of each season they drop their prices to 75% off. This is great because if they were selling childerns jeans for $7 dollars they are now only like $2 dollars. Stock up. Like I said earlier you get better deals if your childern are under 4 because the clothes aren't worn out. Up untill this point most kids out grow their clothes before they out ware them. Espicially jeans they hold up very well. So if they are on sale grab all of them and don't forget to shop a year ahead. Even if all you get is jeans for the kids and still have to buy tops you still saved a ton of money on pants. I wish I had known more about consignment shops before I had my kids. If you are shopping for a baby that is on the way, check these shops out before you go to Babies R US. The shops often have baby equipment that was only used a few times, yet you get it for a fraction of the price. I saw a bouncie chair in a consignment shop that I paid $80.00 for they had it on sale for $10.00. I spent close to $3000.00 perparing for the arvial of my first child, had I gone to one of these shops I could have done it for a bit over $1000.00. Something to think about. You can also make money at consignment shops by selling your clothes and baby supplies. Depending on the store there may be a small fee to join. You usually get 50% of what your items sell for. I have also seen one were you get 40% so look around. The store normally has you make an appointment to come in with the clothes, they need to be clean, ironed and on hangers. Becareful to read your contract there is usually a pick up date for clothes not sold that season. If you don't pick up the clothes they become property of the store. Also be sure to stop in or call to see if you have sold items and have a check that needs to be picked up.

Survey

Hello fellow shoppers,

A few months back I noticed some stores in the mall, like Jcpennys and Old Navy were offering 10-15% off a future purchase. All you have to do is go online and take a short survey. After you are done with the survey you can print a coupon out to use the next time you are in the store. Beware of the expiration date on the bottom of your receipt, you usually have to take the survey within a few days. You can only do one survey every 30-45 days. I know its only 10-15% off but that could work out to be $10-15 dollars easy if you are making a big purchase it would be a good idea to take the survey.
Your tip for today is if you are going into walmart or target for one thing DON'T get a carriage or basket. We all do this, go in there for one thing and $100 dollars later we are all saying "what did I buy?" Not getting a basket or carriage will stop you from impulse buying. Once your hands are full you are more likely to just walk you to the register. If you have a carriage you are more likely to stroll around longer costing you more money in the end. You could also try to make a list a stick to it. The hard part is the sticking to it. It does work for some people and might be worth trying.

checking out

Hello fellow shoppers,

I would like to take a few minutes to talk to you about checking out in stores. Today when I was checking out in Walmart the cashier tried to charge me $8.00 for 4 plums.I know crazy. I told her the price was wrong, so she tried to retype the code for plums and it came up the same price again. Then I had her get the chart with the codes for fruits and veggies and try another one. In the end I got them for $1.79 big difference. My advise to you is when your cashier is ringing up your purchases be sure to position yourself so you can see the how much each item rings up for. This is even more important when items are on sale or clearance. Make sure you say something if it rings up for more then the sign or tag says. If a sale sign is in the wrong spot in a store and says something is cheaper then its ringing up for the store HAS TO give it to you for that marked price. I've had cashiers say sorry the sign was wrong, and made them give me the merchandise for what the sign says. If put a stink up they will back down, just don't yell they don't respond well to that. Another thing is if you see something you want to buy but is slightly damaged, like a pair of pants that is missing a belt or something small tell the cashier you want 15% off for the damage if she says no try 10% they usually will except that. Just be careful when you ask for money off or the price of an item changed try to sound like you know what you are talking about and are standing your ground but be nice at the same time.

stock up sale

What r u people doing at home u need to get out there and SHOP. Target has clothes on sale for 75% off. This is a big sale. I was getting pants for $2-$3, tights for $1 shirts are only a few dollars.Kids clothes are really cheap, winter jackets are priced to go. Stock up for next winter. These prices are better then consignment shops. Speaking of consignment shops the Kids Stop in Brick is moving their location to behind Outback Steak House. If anyone goes there, I no longer do, to put it nicely I think the women that owns that place is a snob.Back to Target I tried to return a gift today and they wouldn't take it back because they no longer carried it and without a receipt they couldn't do anything. So when u buy gifts be sure to include a gift receipt. Most stores now have horrible return policies anyway. Here is my tip of the day, if u r looking to save money and u r going to be out shopping all day pack snacks. Stopping and picking up lunch or a snack can add up quick, think about it $5 for a pretzel and drink or $ 8-$10 on a lunch could be money for an additional couple of shirts or pants.

weekend sales

Hello,
I just got in from shopping today and I found some realy good deals. JcPenny's has winter clothes on sale for 75% off. I found some really nice shirts and sweaters for $4-$8 a peice. Old Navy has an additional 30% off the enitre store, even the sale and clearance items. The sale is for this weekend only so get in there. If you want to save even more at old navy you can get their credit card, everytime you buy clothes from them you get 5% back in old navy dollars and 1% back for all other purchurshes. It doesn't sound like much but it really adds up quick. I usually get $20-50 dollars back each month. The childerns place is having a huge sale all of the winter clothes are $2.99-$3.99. Here is a tip if you have young kids shop a year ahead. For example my daughter is in size 4t right now and my son is in 5t. So today when I was out buying winter clothes I was buying size 5 for my daughter and size 6 for my son. I saved at least $200.00 in the childerns place alone today. I did pretty good in sears as well. They have most of their winter clothes on sale also, but what made it a really good deal was the coupon they had in the paper for an extra 15% off. Want another good tip dont be shy to ask for coupons at the register. Even if its not the type of store that puts coupons in the paper, sometimes they have one at the register. I saved an extra $15 at the childerns place today by doing that. Happy Shopping!!

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my shopping tip blog. I love to shop but what I love even more is when I get great deals. Twice a week I will be updating my blog. I will add both tips for saving money when you shop and I will tell you who is having a good sale that week. Tip #1 when shopping in Target and Walmart shop the end caps of the isle . This is where a lot of clearnce items are kept.
